A FOLINO CONSTRUCTION INC

This just happened on 9/8/22 at 9:00am. While doing road work in our neighborhood, one of their workers parked his personal vehicle blocking our driveway. Instead of having the vehicle towed automatically, we thought we would give the owner a chance to move. My wife asked the supervisor who owned the car and she acted annoyed she was asking. Then she and multiple members of the crew harassed and threatened my wife instead of having him move the car. After about 30 more minutes, the owner walked up, scraped his dirty work boots on our steps, then moved his car. And to top it all off, the work they did was awful. Interpersonal skills and actual labor are both equally unprofessional and childish. Hard to believe the city gives this company contracts.

This company has to be the worst one in the Pittsburgh area. Three months of work on Camp Meeting Road!! I drive this road several times a day. Have almost gotten hit twice by their excavator and once by a car head on because both of their flaggers had the “slow” sign facing the same way at the same time. Why? Because they were too busy on their phones. 30 minute wait times to get through because we have to wait for them to dig massive holes in the road and put a grate over it to get by. Absolutely ridiculous! No time regard or consideration for people. You need to train you employees better on safety and time management! My favorite is when I’m waiting to get through and everyone is standing around chatting it up! Can’t imagine how much “milking” of this company these employees do…

Folino, based on Oakmont, has big contracts in the City of Pittsburgh through PWSA. They did line replacement work on my street in the Northside a while back. The crew used the front bucket of their loader to break out the existing sidewalks on our street and did this repeatedly for days. This caused an earthquake-like effect. I witnessed (and videoed) my chandeliers swaying and my doors banging. I was in the room when my plaster breached from the wall. I addressed with the crew manager and showed him the damage. He stated that I lived in an old house and expectedly the plaster would be compromised....Though there was no sign of this prior to the banging. My neighbors experienced plaster breaches in their homes as well. Folino also tore out my next door neighbor's step-curb around her landscaping and made no effort to put it back. They also paved my sidewalk to the curb, when clearly there an existing patch of grass between my existing walk and the curb. This was after I requested the crew maintain the patch and after I cleared and bordered the patch off with wood framing, prior to them pouring the cement. The framing was discarded when the work was done. (Unfortunately, I wasn't home when they poured the replacement walk). I spent hours on the phone with PWSA who deferred to Folino as the contractor completing the work. Folino, initially, deferred to PWSA. I (an neighbors) did eventually obtain forms from Folino that we could submit for a claim's review. However, they required bids from contractors....During Covid. I made several calls, particularly, to get bids for the plaster to no avail. I consulted with an attorney, who said, essentially, with the time and cost I would incur to take legal action, I would be better off to pay for repairs myself. I guess this is why contractors get away with shotty work with little recourse. I overheard one of their crew members say one day, "It's not my neighborhood. I don't care." Clearly, that sums up the experience with this company. They're based in Oakmont, and I think it's fair to say they have certain perceptions of city neighborhoods...Where I live... And care greatly about my historic home. Less than two years out, the sidewalks are cracking. My advise to Folino...Do this work in Oakmont. Let's see how far your "not caring" gets there! Since I'm left to pay for all this damage myself, the least I can do is share a review....Maybe it can serve as a record for some recourse for someone else in the future or inform PWSA when making their contract reviews. I see a lot of very poor ratings already.

I was just tailgated by a Folino work truck. I slowed down to let them pass and they sat beside me for over a mile blew their horn and came dangerously close to my fender until I finally slowed down and turned off the road. (I’m a 64 year old female🤷‍♂️) Word of mouth is the best advertisement and you should not put your name on your trucks if you hire such incompetent, dangerous people

Folino has been working with PWSA to replace the waterlines in my entire neighborhood for weeks. They wrongfully had my car and several other cars towed today that were in an area that had ZERO “No Parking” signs posted anywhere. I kindly confronted one of the workers regarding this and they claimed that the rain “washed the signs away”—it didn’t rain yesterday. Even if it had rained, I was out on the street at all hours yesterday up until after midnight and there were no signs—there haven’t been signs for DAYS regarding this particular stretch of the road. I think I know where and where not to park at this point for how long I’ve been dealing with this company wreaking havoc on my street. Not only do they wrongfully tow, they move their equipment at all hours of the night—I was awakened several times before 5am with loud booms and bangs of them moving large equipment and trucks with no respect for the community. Watch out if you see these guys parked on your street.

Seen them around PGH doing road and sidewalk work. 12 person crews; no social distancing, no masks.

Absolutely rude with no respect for the neighborhoods in which they work.

I had four tons of pea gravel delivered from another company in front of my house. The guys from Folino were doing work on another street adjacent to ours in Mt. Washington. The guy driving the truck went speeding down our street and purposely hit the pile of gravel - spraying it all over the road. I’m sure he did a little damage to the right front of the truck as well. Such a jagoff move - especially when it’s 90+ degrees out.

Folino Construction has been doing the restorative work for PWSA in my neighborhood. They have no parking signs up on my street, the street behind us, and the street beside us. This has been going on for 3 weeks now. I've seen them on my block of the street maybe 3-4 days, but we are having to continually shuffle our cars each morning. They also left energy drink cans and wrappers on my wall after working in front of my house. I called PWSA to complain and they took the complaint. They also advised I call Folino Construction as well. I did and explained the inconvenience they are causing when they are rarely working on my block. They offered no apology and couldn't give me a rough date of when it would be completed. They instead told me this is something in life that has to be dealt with and atleast once this is done we'll have a nice paved road and not have to have it done for years. That's all well in good, but they shouldn't be posting no parking signs on three different streets and then rarely showing up. We've had plenty of construction done on this street over the past decade and never has it been as much of a hassle as it has been with Folino.

There seems to be so many people dissatisfied with there work I think people only complain when somethings go wrong. But what about all the people that they have pleased. The job these guy did for me was such a good job i just figured out how to post here. Here are some photos of there great work. I think these guys are just really hard workers and they get up every day and do it again. They did a great job on my property. Every person that worked on my property from putting in new copper pipes to sidewalks and new curbs plus milling down more of our street to help stop water from pouring down over onto our property, plus repaving our street, great jobs guys. My Thanks goes out to all of you. Much Thanks
