The tow trailer Penske rented to me had a dangerous defect---unbeknownst to me, it was missing a key part that is meant to keep the ratchets that hold down the towed vehicle's wheels in place. When a ratchet flew off mid-tow and hit my car, this created a serious safety risk, damaged the car I was towing, and delayed my cross-country move, requiring new plans, reservations, and scrambling to coordinate repairs. I had purchased tow insurance through Penske, so I thought at least that my repairs would be paid for, but the insurance company denied the claim on the basis that I didn't hit anything, and therefore there was no collision (besides the trailer part with my car...) Penske's "risk management" team gave me the run-around and despite repeated efforts to get in touch to rectify this, almost a year later it still hasn't been resolved. This company rents out dangerously faulty equipment and then fails to back up its product when that equipment fails and does damage.
