Shugar Law Office

Very helpful resolving a ticket. It was effortless on my part. After I provided the details it was basically a done deal. Everything was handled and resolved in a timely manner. I was kept updated throughout the process. I would recommend this law office and I would use them again if necessary.

Wonderful experience. Communication was top notch, and they did exactly what they said they would for a fair price. I didn't have to do anything other than call, accept the their cost and give them some info regarding my ticket and they handled everything from submitting my not guilty plea, to getting my ticket dropped to $90 no points. Received text alerts as to updates regarding. My final cost actually came in lower than expected. Absolutely would use the Shugar law firm again for traffic violations and disputing them in court for me.

Shugar Law not deliver on the expectations they set. I was subject to a pretty outrageous traffic stop on the Palisades Parkway. No radar was used but I was exceeding the 55 mph speed limit. The officer claimed 70mph which I think was inflated, but no radar was used. The officer was obviously having a bad day and sought to ruin mine as well by giving me four other minor citations l, all of which were false. The final toll was $666 in fines and 10-12 points, all for cruising calmly around 65-70 on a practically empty highway. My initial consultation was reassuring. They told me my experience was not uncommon (sad), but that the attorney had 20 years of experience and knew exactly how it would play out. He said the result would be zero points and a plea to a lesser charge for a penalty of $200-$300 and no points. I accepted the retainer fee of $420 and trusted what I was being told was true. The result was different. On the day of the virtual hearing I started receiving texts from a new attorney whom I’d never had a chance to speak with prior. She presented me with an outcome with no point about a penalty 50% higher than what I had been promised would be delivered. I believe this is because the new attorney was not familiar with my case although she assured me she had “read the notes.” In the end I ended up paying roughly $800 for a case that was worth challenging completely. Shugar Law offered me temporary peace of mind but simply didn’t deliver on their assurances.

I called on a Saturday thinking I would just leave a message and Mr. Shugar answered the phone. I have a commercial license so my license is my life. Mr. Shugar told me what he could do for me and that it all can be done over the phone and by text and email which I thought was great. Once hired I was kept informed of all updates by text and email so I knew what was going on every step of the way. What I thought was really great is whenever they send you an email they also send you a text so you know to check your email. I knew when they sent letters to the court and knew when they spoke to the prosecutor and knew when the case was resolved. In the end I didn't get any points and they made it very easy. I am very pleased and definitely recommend them.

Worst experience I have ever had with a lawyer. He literally made the situation worse than it already was. I was relying on him to take care of my case but he didn't even seem to care at all and wanted to do the bare minimum, telling me to call the court and insurance company and talk to them. Seriously?? You were claiming that you been doing this 19 years and you want the client do figure it out on his own. This is your profession, if you've been doing this for almost 2 decades, you should already know the law front and back. His advertisement clearly states in capitalized letters that there will be "No insurance surcharge. So what happens? My insurance increased by $100! Not only did I have to pay over $2,000 in restitution and court fines/fees and it was enough that the police charged me with 5 tickets and threatened to give me points for a "Bicycle accident" No motor vehicle was present. I paid this lawyer almost $300 and I made it clear that it was a bicycle accident and he even agreed it was absurd but then when he amended my ticket, it went on my record as I was operating a car! so obviously when it goes back to the DMV and the insurance company they will go by what the record says. So it was clearly his fault since the tickets were in his hands and he had the ability to dismiss and amend them. On top of that when, when I spoke with him he stressed that the court would never extend my monthly payments to 1 year and that it had to be paid in 3 months. I talk to the judge and he extended my payment plan to 1 year. So not only did my lawyer lie to my face he also screwed me up driving record which I previously improved. The only thing he did was remove the points but that did not make a difference at all because it went on my record as a car and increased my insurance triple so it would just be the same as having points. He just did half the job. That is all I have to say. I do not recommend this lawyer.
